Globaloria so Far!!

Globaloria so far has been great.  Their are certain things I like and then their are thing that I don't like, and I think I need improvement on.  I like that we get to practice with making a mini game and to be able to blog every week.  I wish that I could improve my knowledge of working with codes.  I can make them work but it is very difficult and takes time and patience.  I am going to practice with codes so that Ican try and help myself to better understand how to work with coding.  Other that the codes theirs really nothing else that I dislike about Globaloria.  There are many things I like about Globaloria.  Such as the ability to have your own personalized wiki page, blogger, and Gmail.  I love Globaloria and I hope that things continue to work the way they are.  Also, I hope to have improvement in the things that I am still not skilled enough to do.

Single Story

To have a "single story" on a place is like having an opinion on someone from that place, and thinking the same about everyone else as you do for that person.  If the person is bad you will think the place is bad, if the person is good you will think the place is good.  Most people have a bad opinion on our community.  They should know that not all people here live in the same condition of other people.  If someone could live in our community they would understand that not all people are the same.  I have heard Stories on Morgantown, WV.  Everyone says that is a great place and is very clean and neat.  I have never been so I don't know what it's like and the only way I can learn about that community is to go visit it.  A game could learn people about a place or community by exploring different setting in it.  Overall, a single story is an opinion based on what you have heard about a different place.

Imagining Your Game

WHO are you designing your game for? I am going to design our game for students ranging in age from 10-15 to where they are old enough to fully understand the games topic.
WHAT will your game teach the player about your topic? Our game is going to be of the titanic and we want to give the player a feel of just how hard it was to survive the Titanic.
WHERE does your game happen? Our game setting is going to be in the Northern Atlantic Ocean.
Our game will be designed for the new generation but it will teach history. This setting will be a good learning experience because almost everyone know about the Titanic and it was such an important time in history.
HOW does your game world teach the player about your topic? Well we are trying to give the students a better understanding of the Titanic.  In our game we are going to try to have the player be driving the ship through a sea of iceburgs without hitting one.  The player will use what he knows about ships and iceburgs to get through the sea.
WHY is a game a better way of understanding your topic than a quiz? A game is a better way o understanding the topic because, in a game you can interact with things while learning at the same time.  This way you will be learning in an easier and funner way.

Playing to Learn!!

When doing the assignment "Playing to Learn" there were many topics.  My favorite educational game was under the topic of Puzzles and Mazes, and I would love to make my game on this topic.  I've learned while playing with different topics that they have different ways to make the game educational.  The game "Learn the Bones" was interesting to me because the way it was set up.  It was made to where they would give you a bone and you was to place it in the correct spot of the body.  I thought it was a great way to bring learining and fun together.  There is one thing I don't understand.  Why doesn't the games under Puzzles and Mazes have descriptions about what you are learning?  Other than that I agree with everything about the topic and I can't wait to get started on my own game.

Back to School!!!!

Going back to school was very overwhelming, becauese during the Summer I was used to sleeping late and doing something exciting everyday.  So whenever I came back to school it was like a big beginning of the year but we did but the only work I like to do is globaloria because it doen't involve pencil and paper and you are practically on your own to work.  Even, though Globaloria is slap in the face.  Getting up at 5:30 and haveing to work just isn't my forte.  I know that I have to so I try to keep motivated and do my best.  The only class that I really look forward to is Globaloria because I like to work with technology.  I wasn't expecting to start work at the very fun I would still rather be at home riding four-wheelers and being on Facebook.  School is alright but im definately going to miss Summer so much.  :(
