In our game presentation we are going to do a lot of thing to make it fun to watch.  We want the audience to have fun watching us and put in good word on our presentation.  We are going to speak clearly and give eye contact as much as possible.  We are going to use body gestures to somewhat interact with our audience, and we are going to take turns so that everyone gets their chance to shine.
By doing all of these things we will have a great presentation and everyone should be satisfied with everything.  We are going to practice everyday so that whenever the big day comes we will be fully ready and confident in ourselves.  I have a really good feeling about presenting our game demo and I am almost positive that everyone will love us and the hard work that we put into our game demo.
I am so excited and very confident that we are going to do a really good job.  Hopefully all goes well.

Game Demo!!

In Globloria we have been working on a game demo which is sort of like a short powerpoint on what our game is going to be like.  It explains things like our gameplay, characters, audience, and many more.  It is like having a sneak peek of our game.  In the game demo we have to use animations and design which gets the audience more interested.  We have worked very hard to make our game demo perfect, but there are many things we can do to make it better.
We have a pretty fair amount of stuff done on our game demo.  We have all of our text finished.  Our text is yellow with a blue background which goes along with the West Virginia theme.  We have our screen shots taken and inserted on our game demo.  With the screen shots people have a slight idea of what our game is going to be like.  Also we have design finished we have an icon of a West Virginia sign.  This also goes along with our West Virginia theme.
Although we have alot of things finished we also have alot to do.  We still need to find a way to put a playable scene on it so that the audience can interact with it.  Also we wanted to make designs move around and create a really cool effect to our game design.  We could also put more West Virginia icons to better the theme.
If we can achieve all of these things we willhave such a great Game Demo.

The Do's and Dont's of Presenting!

Today in Globaloria we watched a very informational video that explained to us the importance of doing your best while presenting information.  It clearly explained to us that there are certain things that are unexeptable while presenting and they also explained that there are many things that could make your presentation better.  The main focus while presenting is to please your audience.  They are the ones who are judging you by what you say and do while presenting.
Three things that you shouldn't do while presenting is to mumble your words, not look direct at the audience, and to hold your paper that you are reading right in front of your face.  If you mumble your words while talking the audiece will not be able to understand what you are saying and will be totally confused on the topic that you are talking about.  If you don't look directly at your audiene it will seem as if you are not talking to them and it will defunately be hard for them to make since of things if you are talking into outer-space.  Another thing to keep in mind is to never hold you paper right in front of your face.  It will make it hard for the audience to hear you and when they see a presentation they also want to see the person who is responsible for it.  These three things are some of the things that you do not need to do in a presentation or it will be a disaster.
There are also many things that can make your presentation good and a joy to the audience to watch.  Talk directly to the audience, make sure you speak loud and clear, and let the audience see your face while presenting.  If you talk directly to the audience they will feel as if you are trying to interact with them and they will be more interested in listening to what you have to say.  If you speak loud it will be easier for everyone to understand what you are saying and it will help the presentation flow correctly.  If you let the audience see your face besides hiding it with your paper they will be happy to see who is talking. Also if your presentation is good they will have respect for you and not for someone that they dont know what they look like.
If you follow all of these suggestions you are sure to have a remarkable presentation and will get a very good grade.  You will be looked up to by other students and you will be so proud of yourself.  In the end you will come out shining.

Mini game:)

The mini game project was very complicated.  I am not very good with codes so I had to get help from a friend in Globaloria.  She was happy to help me and with her advice I got it finished.  The best part of this topic was getting to experiment with flash and learn about coding a little bit more.  The worst part was uploading the mini game because it is very time consuming and not always does it work.  Even though this process was very harn and lengthy it all worked out in the end.

Team Work:)

My team in Globaloria class is anything but ordinary.  Not only do I have one parter I have two, and they just so happen to be my bestfriends.  One thing I really think is going good with my group so far is the Team work.  We always help each other when we are confused or not sure how to do something.  Another thing that I like about my group is that we all try to distribute the same amount of work.  We never just let one person do all the work we all do part of the assignment and help each other out.  One thing I dont like about our group is that sometimes we argue and have diagrreents on things, but the main reason is that we are like sisters and we are way to much alike.

My team has made some major improvement since the beginning of the year.  We all have sort-of mutured.  We have realized how important it is to stay on task and work as hard as possible.  Also another great improvement in our group is that we all learned how to use the new Flash as if we have used it for our whole life.  So far this year has been an amazing year and I am happy with everything.

Challenges in flash

Although flash is helpful in many ways it is also very challenging and sometimes difficult to use.  I am good at buttons and creating game scenes with different keyframes.  The only struggles I face with flash is animation and coding.  I know where to get the coding but setting it up is very difficult and frustrating.  If I really try I think that I can get our animation on every level working perfectly.  I am going to pay close attention and do everything in my power to get everything working and looking the way that I want it to.  Overall flash is a good friend when it comes to Globaloria and even though it makes me mad I couldn't survive without it.

Paper prototyping

Well our game is focusing on all the different activities in the Allegheny Plateau.  We are trying to educate students about one of the four important regions in West Virginia.  We wanted to make our game on West Virginia because we are from there and it falls in the history category.  We all have different roles and responsibilities but then again when one of us need help we help each other.  My role in the paper prototyping was to draw and get information just like my teammates.  Our research came from both WV sites and in West Virginia studies class.  Our actions in every level is to use the arrow keys to get to the correct answer.  We dicided this at the beginning of the year and we never thought twice on it.  Flash has really helped us bring our paper prototyping to life.  Flash has many resources such as animations, buttons, and designs that really make our game stand out.  We haven't really had any difficulties this year but if I thought something was hard it would probably be creating our game the exact way we want on flash.  Overall, paper prototyping has really helped me with the set up of out game and I think we are going to have an amazing game.

Non- Quiz

We have had so many mis-understandings about quiz and non-quiz games.  This year my team mates and I are going to make a fun non-quiz game.  We are going to do this by making the game where you can interact with the characters and objects and there won't be any questions.  It is going to be hard to do this but with time and effort we can do it.  If things go right everything will pay off in the end.

My partners and I have many ideas of what we want our game to be like.  We are not completely sure what our final decision is going to be.  We do know that we want our game to be about the Titanic, and we are going to try and have a game where you must survive the shipwreck.  We have many things to think about but we do have many ideas that we are going to try to but totgether to make a wonderful game.  Even though it is not compltely clear of what we want to do but we can assure you that by the end of the year we will have an amazing game.

Globaloria so Far!!

Globaloria so far has been great.  Their are certain things I like and then their are thing that I don't like, and I think I need improvement on.  I like that we get to practice with making a mini game and to be able to blog every week.  I wish that I could improve my knowledge of working with codes.  I can make them work but it is very difficult and takes time and patience.  I am going to practice with codes so that Ican try and help myself to better understand how to work with coding.  Other that the codes theirs really nothing else that I dislike about Globaloria.  There are many things I like about Globaloria.  Such as the ability to have your own personalized wiki page, blogger, and Gmail.  I love Globaloria and I hope that things continue to work the way they are.  Also, I hope to have improvement in the things that I am still not skilled enough to do.

Single Story

To have a "single story" on a place is like having an opinion on someone from that place, and thinking the same about everyone else as you do for that person.  If the person is bad you will think the place is bad, if the person is good you will think the place is good.  Most people have a bad opinion on our community.  They should know that not all people here live in the same condition of other people.  If someone could live in our community they would understand that not all people are the same.  I have heard Stories on Morgantown, WV.  Everyone says that is a great place and is very clean and neat.  I have never been so I don't know what it's like and the only way I can learn about that community is to go visit it.  A game could learn people about a place or community by exploring different setting in it.  Overall, a single story is an opinion based on what you have heard about a different place.

Imagining Your Game

WHO are you designing your game for? I am going to design our game for students ranging in age from 10-15 to where they are old enough to fully understand the games topic.
WHAT will your game teach the player about your topic? Our game is going to be of the titanic and we want to give the player a feel of just how hard it was to survive the Titanic.
WHERE does your game happen? Our game setting is going to be in the Northern Atlantic Ocean.
Our game will be designed for the new generation but it will teach history. This setting will be a good learning experience because almost everyone know about the Titanic and it was such an important time in history.
HOW does your game world teach the player about your topic? Well we are trying to give the students a better understanding of the Titanic.  In our game we are going to try to have the player be driving the ship through a sea of iceburgs without hitting one.  The player will use what he knows about ships and iceburgs to get through the sea.
WHY is a game a better way of understanding your topic than a quiz? A game is a better way o understanding the topic because, in a game you can interact with things while learning at the same time.  This way you will be learning in an easier and funner way.

Playing to Learn!!

When doing the assignment "Playing to Learn" there were many topics.  My favorite educational game was under the topic of Puzzles and Mazes, and I would love to make my game on this topic.  I've learned while playing with different topics that they have different ways to make the game educational.  The game "Learn the Bones" was interesting to me because the way it was set up.  It was made to where they would give you a bone and you was to place it in the correct spot of the body.  I thought it was a great way to bring learining and fun together.  There is one thing I don't understand.  Why doesn't the games under Puzzles and Mazes have descriptions about what you are learning?  Other than that I agree with everything about the topic and I can't wait to get started on my own game.

Back to School!!!!

Going back to school was very overwhelming, becauese during the Summer I was used to sleeping late and doing something exciting everyday.  So whenever I came back to school it was like a big beginning of the year but we did but the only work I like to do is globaloria because it doen't involve pencil and paper and you are practically on your own to work.  Even, though Globaloria is slap in the face.  Getting up at 5:30 and haveing to work just isn't my forte.  I know that I have to so I try to keep motivated and do my best.  The only class that I really look forward to is Globaloria because I like to work with technology.  I wasn't expecting to start work at the very fun I would still rather be at home riding four-wheelers and being on Facebook.  School is alright but im definately going to miss Summer so much.  :(

Final Post

Well school is almost over and it kills me to say goodbye to all my friends.  I am really going to miss them.  Another thing that I am going to miss is Globaloria.  It was the funnest experience I have ever had.  From the friends and the gamemaking everything was very fun.  Although,  somethimes were diffucult it all pulled through.  I really am excited about coming back next year and getting to have this experience all over again.

WestTest

Last week our school took the WestTest which is for us the biggest test of the year.  The easiest subject for me would be the math the rest of them were sort of difficult.  Although, most of it was hard I think that I at least met mastery on all of them.  The teachers kept us motivated to do good by handing out mints and having an activity after every part.  Also, in between sessions they would have a snack waiting for us.  Overall, I think that I did a good job and I know that the staff did everything possible for us to stay focused and do a good job.

Globaloria Presentations

Last week we had globaloria presentations and I think that my partner and I did really good.  They looked at our team page and played our game.  They had really nice opinions on our game such as the design and setup, but they also had opinions on how we could make our game better.  They want us to incorperate more animation to the way our game is made.  I think that we could fix our game by the end of the year and I can't wait to see about the overall game!!!

Almost done!!!!!

We have came a long way in our Globaloria experience striving through hard obstacles and facing trouble.  Through this whole thing we came out shining.  We are almost done with our game which is based on the learning of input-output tables.  We have all of our buttons working and all of our keyboard.  We have four scenes that have hit test but, out of those four we only got one scene working with hit test.  We should be able to finish before presentations becasuse we have our mind sets on winning the laptops and with that motivation we can do anything.  Well that's all I can say I guess you'll have to wait and see. :)

Internet Safety

Have you ever had a facebook or myspace?  If you have you may know the importance of privacy on the internet.  You try to keep your personal information private because, it is dangerous in many ways to give it out.  There are times when with your info people can track where you live.  Also if you add people you don't know they can send you hurtful and threatining messages.  Another thing to keep in mind is to never give out your last name.  They can look up who your parents are and track down your phone number.  The internet is sometimes a very dangerous thing but if you follow my tips you should be O.K!!!!!!!

What Kind of Flash Game is Ours.

Our game design is Dragon Drop and Arrow Keys simply because, our waitress is going to be moving up, down, left, and right.  Also, our Dragon Drop would come in when the food is falling.  We are going to have food falling with answers to questions and the waitress must hit the food with the right answer on it to win the game.  If she hits the wrong answer she will have to start over.  We thought that Dragon Drop and Arrow Keys would be a good combination and would be really fun for the students playing the game.  That's what our game is going to be like I hope you like it.

Making math fun!!!!!

Have you ever played a math game that has actually helped you learn.  This is what we are trying to do in our globaloria game.  Math games definately motivate me in a way to where I learn while having fun.  I really like a math game called Flower Power because it was fun and it was girly and it actually helped me in math.  I hope to experience more fun while playing an educational game and I hope one day that you will to.  A very nice site to play educational games is on coolmath.com.

What to expect from our game!!!!! :)

We have been working in flash for a while now and it is starting to get easier.  We have had a lot of diffucult time with flash but, with a little help anything can happen.  I can assure you that our game is going to be very fun and educational.  What I look forward to the most about making our game is the effects and graphics.  We want it to be like a caroon appearence but we want it to be some what 3-D and we want it to have a lot of movement.  Right now I do see my game being finished but, it is going to take a lot of hard work and it definately isn't going to be easy.

Educational Games

Have you ever played an educational game?  I have and it was a very fun experience.  Most of the time people like to play fighting and racing games, but I decided to play something that might actually help me in life.  Last year in Mrs. Wimmers classroom we played an archery game where you must answer a problem right and then you would get the chance to try and hit the target with the arrow.  Some of the questions we answered were everyday math like solving how much money was left over and how long will it take him to get there.  I myself think that games such as the one I explained can help you in life.  It can provide education in a way that you would let you have fun while learning.  This way you will want to come back and enjoy yourself.

What I like and Dislike About our game!!!

So far our game has about five or six scenes drawn out, but we haven't yet got our buttons working.  There are three very interesting things about our game that I really like.  I like the fact that our game is about a restaurant because, I love the look of a old time diner.  I also like that our game is very colorful and bright.  My favorite thing is the graphics because without them our game wouldn't look fun at all.  I dislike that our game still has concepts of a quiz game in it because, the whole point of the game is to NOT be a quiz game!!!!!

Work in Flash

This week we have been working on our game in Flash.  It has been a joy to help my partner work on our game together and share ideas of what we think would make it better.  This week we have been reading up on ways to make our game fun and cool.  We have recently been trying to get our buttons to work.  We still aren't sure how to but, we are going to try our best to get it working.  We have also been working on the scenes of our game.  We have already got about four or five scenes done.  We have only done one this week but, at least we are making progress.  Hopefully, next week we will have our buttons working and have another scene done.  I guess I talk to you next week BYE!!!!!

What I like about Globaloria!!!!!!!

So far we have done many things in Globaloria but, the funnest thing we have done was game presentations.  I absolutely loved interacting with people on the phone.  I gave it my best and I think that it paid off.  I also liked making buttons.  I loved making it all colorful and pretty.  Although, I haven't learned how to make buttons work correctly I enjoyed creating them.  I know that I have many things to look forward to In Globaloria.  I also know that it is going to be a hard experience and it is also going to be fun.  I can barely wait until our final game is done.  It will make me so happy to see the progress that I have made in my Globaloria class,

Presenting My Game Demo:)*

At first I thought that presenting our game demo was going to be hard and nerve racking but, it turned out to be fun and I loved it.  It was sort of hard when you have to show the work that you have done because, you are not completely sure what you need to show.  We just talked our way through it and it turned out good.  The funnest part was when they asked you questions about your game, because you can describe in detail what you want your game to be like when you are completely finished with it.  Overall, it was a great experience and I can't wait to do it again.

My Development Topic!!!!!!

Today, we are blogging about the hardest part of our math concept.  Most people have problems knowing whether or not to use multiplication, division, addition , or subtraction.  It can be confusing when one number is on one side and then on down the line the number is on the other side.  All you got to know is when you have a number on one side do the oppisite to the one on the other side.  Just remember these tips and you can work out any input-output problem in the world.

Adding Input: mouse

Adding input mouse was very complicated.  I got some of my classmates to help me with it.  They helped me with all the codes and the hard things like that.  What we did was get the scene off one of the globaloria page and we personalized it.  It wasn't easy to understand but, all I really had to do was read and think really hard.  Overall, it was a hard project but easy to do with the help of others.
